It was a beautiful morning on the Eastern Shore of MD and Michelle & Jeff are having an outside, tented wedding in a friends back yard. The ladies were getting ready at the Homestead and the guys at the pool house. Everything was running smoothly and most importantly in a life of a wedding planner; everything was on schedule. Caterers were setting up, the florist was busy working on the arch and the decorator was arranging centerpieces!  As I was walking from outside into the house, I heard the GMOG crying and her husband was just standing there like a soldier. I popped my head in the room and asked if I could help. That is when the grandfather of the groom turned around and showed me the size 4T tux. Oh no, I told myself to keep calm (and really not to laugh), I would work it out. It seems that the ring bearer cancelled and him and he had the same name as his grandfather. The tux shop cancelled the wrong tux and nobody looked in the bag when they picked it up from the shop.

So, I had 2 hours to somehow figure out how to solve this problem. I asked for the tux, told them not to worry, and went on my merry way. I immediately called the tux shop who did have the correct tux, but they were over an hour away and I would never get there and back in time. Enter, my wonderful husband, he is always there to help me out of a jam. Lucky for me, the tux shop was only about ½ hour from my home (in the wrong direction, I might add) and my husband not only offered to pick it up for me, but he offered to meet me half way. We met on the Eastern side of the Bay Bridge and did the exchange. I can’t tell you the feeling I had when the correct tux in my hand with an hour to spare! When I got back to the house, I brought the correct tux to the GFOG, pinned on his boutineer and headed over to the ladies to tell the MOG everything worked out.

She cried tears of joy and gave me the biggest hug ever. When it was time for the ceremony to begin, I started lining up the ladies, and then went over to line up the men. The sun was shining and painted a beautiful backdrop for the ceremony. The reception met all their expectations with delicious food, great entertainment and the dance floor packed. As the GMOG & GFOG were dancing, granddad gave me a wink and a smile; we had shared a secret that bride and groom had not known about at that moment. The wedding day was a success, my job was complete. The bride and groom never suspected a thing until later that evening when they simply sent me a text saying “thanks, you’re a wedding saver” and I thought, that is the Top Shelf Way!
