Today’s Tip – Hiring Entertainers

Entertainers keep the dance floor dancing!

Although every vendor is important, the DJ/Band will keep your wedding moving along and everyone on the dance floor. They will play background music before your guests arrive, introduce your bridal party, organize the speeches and keep the guests informed. That means they will be running the show, so make sure you like their style.  You can go to a wedding where they are playing to get a feel of how they read the crowd. You can also visit their website as most have videos of weddings they have done. DJ/Bands can also provide audio/visual equipment, photo booths and up-lighting.

Questions to ask the DJ:

  • Do you offer a written contract?
  • Will you be the DJ at our wedding or will the band members be the same?
  • May we zoom with our DJ/bank before we sign a contract?
  • How long will you hold our date for us?
  • Do you work exclusively for the DJ/Band service or are you an agency
  • How many weddings have you done?

SAVINGS: When you are ready to sign a contract, ask for an additional hour of music, if you are having a longer reception. You can also ask them to give you complimentary up lighting or a dance floor monogram. When considering a photo booth, it is best to get it from your entertainment company and ask for a discount on the booth.
